The practice / 01—04

Exploration needs freedom. Company-building needs discipline.

We work in both modes.

Early on, we follow strange threads, make connections and build before everything is understood.

Later, curiosity gives way to harder questions about users, behaviour, distribution, economics and scale.

Knowing when to switch is part of the practice.

01 / Explore

Follow the interesting thing.

A venture can begin anywhere: a technology we want to understand, a behaviour we cannot explain, a broken process, a cultural shift or an idea that refuses to go away.

We investigate without requiring the answer in advance.

The first job is to find the question worth pursuing.

02 / Make

Give the question a form.

Ideas become more useful when they stop being hypothetical.

We bring product thinking, design and engineering together early enough to create something that can be experienced, challenged and misunderstood.

Making reveals things thinking alone cannot.

03 / Test

Let reality argue back.

We expose the assumption.

To users.

To behaviour.

To markets.

To technology.

To money.

We look for evidence strong enough to continue — and evidence strong enough to stop.

Killing an idea is not failure.

It is part of the research.

04 / Carry

Take the rare ones further.

When an experiment keeps producing signal, we commit.

We deepen the product, build the systems around it, find distribution and test whether a useful experiment can become a viable business.

The strongest ventures can eventually leave the lab and become independent companies.

Every experiment changes what we are capable of building next.

Code is reused.

Infrastructure compounds.

Patterns become visible.

Judgement improves.

One venture may end while a piece of it quietly becomes the beginning of another.

That is the factory.
That is the playground.
